AquaPLEX® is a revolutionary material used in the fabrication of potable
hot water storage vessels and water heaters.
It is a high-chromium engineered duplex alloy that combines the grain structures and beneficial attributes of both austenitic (300 series) and ferritic (400 series) stainless steels.
This combination of alloys makes AquaPLEX superior to either alloy individually when heating or storing hot water. AquaPLEX combines the general aqueous corrosion resistance of 300 series stainless steels with the resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking seen in 400 series stainless steels.
Below is a microscopic photo of AquaPLEX material
showing the grain structures of both grades of stainless steel.
